Regional FireSmart representatives gather in Penticton to prepare for year ahead
News ArticleFireSmart regional coordinators representing the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) and the Kootenays gathered in Penticton recently to discuss achievements in 2022 and prepare for the year ahead.
“It was a meeting of the minds, bringing representatives together to reflect on the year’s successes and challenges and consider ways to extend our reach to more properties in 2023,” said Sean Vaisler, RDOS Manager of Emergency Services. “Wildfires know no boundaries and by working together and sharing ideas, we can help improve wildfire preparedness in neighbouring regions.”
In January 2023, the RDOS FireSmart team will be hosting leaders of the 19 community FireSmart groups located throughout the Regional District. “This is another opportunity to bring members together to discuss how our efforts are working within each community and identify ways to make improvements in 2023,” added Vaisler. “The RDOS values the time and energy volunteers are dedicating to helping increase the safety of their neighbourhoods against the potential impacts of wildfire.”
